Ilhabela is an incredible place, full of surprises still little known by tourists. But if you follow our blog, you can create the ideal itinerary with beautiful and still little visited places, exploring the best of our island. Today's tip is for you to get to know the Alcatrazes Archipelago in Ilhabela. Come with us.

Alcatrazes Archipelago

The Alcatrazes Archipelago Wildlife Refuge offers diving autonomous and embarked visit in the region. The group of islands, which is called an archipelago, is located about 45km from Beautiful island and São Sebastião, the place is considered a treasure of wildlife, no wonder and you will understand why.

To get there, it takes about 2 to 3 hours by boat, depending on the sea conditions. The journey itself is a delight.

The Alcatrazes Archipelago is famous for being one of the largest seabird nests in Brazil. It is also worth noting that the place served for a long time as a training area for the Brazilian Navy. Amazing, isn't it?!

Thus, after several studies and planning, the site was released for visitation, however, it is necessary to carefully follow the rules stipulated by the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), responsible for managing the Alcatrazes Archipelago.

Visit to the Alcatrazes Archipelago

The visitation is organized and operated only by companies authorized by the ICMBio. Visitors will be able to do autonomous and free diving or visit on board with float diving and observation of marine fauna. No entrance fee is charged to Refúgio de Alcatrazes, however, it is not allowed to disembark on the islands.

It is worth noting that the Alcatrazes Archipelago Refuge has the objective of conserving endangered, endemic and migratory species, and is considered the largest marine conservation unit of integral protection of the Brazilian continental shelf in the South and Southeast regions. In this way, we inform you that throughout the territory there are almost 1,300 species of flora and fauna.

Finally, visiting the Archipelago is ideal for those looking to learn more about the environment, valuing the protected area.
